"You Are The Temple" is the result of a yearlong exchange with Stephen that removed me from my typical routine. I say that with gratitude.

Primarily working independently with perhaps one event a year, it is rather easy to fall into a pattern. This experience allowed for immediate feedback and source material other than my own, which helped expand my approach.

I was able to keep my usual bag of tricks, introduce some new techniques, and even revisit material I had not touched since 2018.

To be more specific, my contributions included Ableton Live (almost exclusively Collision, with a bit of Drift as well), an Elektron Model:Cycles, and audio I ripped from religious records for further manipulation until indistinguishable.

The end product is what it is: a foreign soundtrack with reprieve at the appropriate moments and density that carries throughout.

So, again, I am thankful for this opportunity. I am also thankful for my fiancée Andrea, whose love is singular and unwavering, as well as my dear friends Fraser and George, who are kind and patient with any material I pass along.

You Are The Temple is the first release by Half Serenity, a collaboration between Half Held and Serenity Dagger. Half Held specializes in thoughtful and atmospheric ambient music and Serenity Dagger thrives on more chaotic forms of electronics, often using free improvisation.

The collaboration became a way for them both to leave behind their go-to modes of composition and attempt a collaboration that was akin to, but different from their solo work.

The result resembles the auditory canvas of an undiscovered Czechoslovakian new wave film, immersing the listener in a world of enigmatic allure and conjuring images of cinematic nostalgia. Ethereal ambient textures act as an emotional backdrop, akin to veiled memories that guide one through the labyrinthine corridors of an invisible film.
